Wavescape invites you to join us for this special conservation and ocean science evening presented by Wildscreen Festival 2022, brought to you by Save Our Seas Foundation, with focus on recent profound developments in Orca and White Shark habitat and distribution around the Cape coast of South Africa.

The evening, which includes a short film and panel discussion, is an international outreach event - or global hub - that forms part of the Wildscreen Festival. Global hubs enable opportunities for networking and sharing between champions of wildlife film, photography, conservation and science around unique local events.

Pull in to Jack Black's Tap Room in Diep River from 18:00. We will begin the evening with networking, followed by an introduction to the Wildscreen Festival, followed by a screening of one of Wildscreen's official selections Whales in a Changing Ocean. After the film, we move on to the explosive footage captured by a drone and helicopter pilot that prompted a groundbreaking research paper into orca predation and the movements of white sharks away from traditional aggregation sites around Cape Town, Gansbaai and Mossel Bay.

We will be joined by scientists who worked on the paper, the drone pilot who filmed the footage, as well as representatives from Sharks Spotters.
