Bertha House Presents: 2s and 4s with Shabaka Hutchings

Bertha House, in collaboration with Studio Party, presents Shabaka Hutchings "A presentation and performance of the flute".

Shabaka Hutchings will present a solo flute set highlighting various flutes collected from his travels around the world. These include instruments rarely heard or seen outside of museums that have been acquired through his relationships with flute makers over the years. Some of the flutes presented will include Japanese Shakuhachi, Mayan Teotihuacan, Drone flutes made from both wood and clay, Ocarinas, large Bamboo side brown flutes, Fula flutes and many more.

Bertha House is an inclusive safe space for activists to connect, work, learn and play. 2s and 4s is a live music platform where music and activism meet. This month we’re excited to welcome the British-born Shabaka, as they touch down on South African soil for a brief moment of music and exchange.
