NEW BODY OF WORK – THREE SOUTH AFRICAN POETIC PERSPECTIVES

Klara du Plessis will read from her multilingual (English and Afrikaans) debut collection Ekke., exploring the multiplicity of self through language, occupying a liminal space between South Africa and Canada.

Phelelani Makhanya will present poems from The Village Watch, exploring the everyday struggles of households and communities using a village as a bouncing point of reflection.

Matt Vend will read from his debut poetry anthology Awkward Energy. He is influenced by the beat generation poets, within a distinctly South African context, with humanity, heartache, humour, and sadness driving his narrative.
