SA Operatunity brings you the 2nd Opera Recital Unmuted.

This year’s event will include the internationally acclaimed South African mezzo-soprano, Bongiwe Nakani. She will be sharing the stage with UCT Opera school’s emerging opera artists, Setsoana Ntseki (soprano), Vuyisa Xivu (tenor) and Smelo Mahlangu (bass-baritone). Opera Recitals Unmuted gives the audience a glimpse into the lives of four different opera artists from different backgrounds, through online mini documentaries about the opera singers. This opera documentary project will give the audience a more personal glimpse into ways opera singers rehearse for their art forms, and for the audience to get to witness the balance in fairness or resource availability between artists that are from the township areas and those in the suburb areas.

During the first phase of documentary: Four artists will be followed by camera crew, recording their daily tasks, learning environments, resources available at the disposal and get a firsthand experience of listening to the artist sing some of their favorite repertoire in a mini recital at Artscape’s Innovation Lounge with a professional opera pianist, David Lubbe.
