PLOT: CRITICAL ZONES
a trans-disciplinary installation interrogating human beings’ relationship with minerals
that is at the heart of mining, industrialisation, manufacturing, and consumption.
The showcase distils the works and research of EARTH artist, Jeanette Unite, from more than 30 countries, and examines how Earth is owned, measured, divided, and allocated by title deeds and legal rights over land and resources. These extraordinary eco-alchemic artworks were created with mined material consisting of oxides, metal salts and residues harvested from extraction, heritage and industrial sites. There she combined unique paint, pastel and glass recipes developed with the assistance of paint-chemists and a geo-chemist.
