Just a month after the release of Nice, Luh'ra starts her tour of a string of live performances at The Commons. Luh'ra will be performing the original music from her new release in an intimate stripped down show with her band consisting of Tiana Amari (bass), Keegan Steenkamp (trumpet) and Owethu Ndwanadwe (keys).
Luh’ra is a singer/songwriter based in Cape Town. Accompanied by her golden guitar, her music can be described as Indie Soul. Imbued with emotional resonance and tranquil melodies, sharing personal feelings and moments in her lyrics, she encourages listeners to reflect on their own experiences. An advocate for vulnerability, Luh’ra has been gently sharing her music since 2017.
Following her debut release of Luh'ra Luv in 2019, the second release, Nice, sees Luh’ra harnesses a purity of sound and story that reveal an artist on the cusp of reaching a wider, global audience.
The seven-track record takes the indie soul that Luh’ra has been sharing with audiences for the past five years and gently, and quite beautifully, expands it. Subtle notes of jazz, silky R&B and smooth beats now also help propel an intimate journey through the multiple facets of human connection that Luh’ra sketches out on Nice bringing the artist into the sonic terrain occupied by artists like Lianne La Havas, Cleo Sol and Raveena.
The release of Nice has since gained local attention with reviews from platforms such as Bubblegum Club, 10&5, Texx and the City and seen her hosted on national television shows such as Afternoon Express. Songs from the EP have been placed on multiple playlists across streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify allowing the music to reach international audiences, while the EP was also previewed on Aaron P’s Southern Tips radio show on critically acclaimed global radio station, World Wide FM.
Following a sold out EP Launch show, Luh'ra starts her tour for Nice between the sea and the mountain at Muizenberg's favourite live music venue, The Commons. This promises to be a night of music that will warm your heart.
