ABOUT
Still A Mum, a fiction novel written by Sheila Ajok Lubangakene about a childless couple who
go through resilience, hope and faith for fifteen years to get their breakthrough. The book has been adapted into a play to be showcased at National Theatre on August 14, 2022 at 2:00pm.
Vessel Is Me in partnership with Ekobara Organisation, have organised this health sensitisation
play to increase awareness and promote education on Infertility, Pregnancy and Infant Loss
(I.P.A.I.L).
The objective of using drama is that theatre has proven to be an effective and
entertaining strategy for dissemination of health information and reinforcement of positive health
messages.
Vessel Is Me would like to create awareness and believe that a story has the power to change the
narrative about infertility and heal the wounds of those affected.
Theatre can also overcome literacy barriers through use of local experience and vernacular to
provoke emotional and analytical responses in the audience.
1 in 6 couples in the world have fertility challenges, but no one wants to talk about it openly.
Information is not freely available for other assisted pregnancy options like adoption or
surrogacy or IVF in Uganda to curb the stigma surrounding fertility challenges. Is there hope for
a couple battling fertility challenges? This is the taboo culture this production wants to end.
You are invited for the play which costs Early Bird Ticket: 30,000/= and Gate ticket:
40,000/=. We firmly believe that your involvement shall be a benefit for you and the people
around you. Your esteemed participation or, donation to the cause will be appreciated.
