DaniMali is a Non-Profit Organization that was established to produce bodies of multi-disciplinary work that serve as a platform for the exchange of artistic ideas and cultural expression; that contribute to the promotion of African values of ubuntu, integration of society and the culture of inclusion and nonviolence. Furthermore, it is a platform for promoting cultural diversity and the unity of Africans.
In African indigenous cultures, the concept of Peace is deeply ingrained in the values, belief systems and forms of spirituality, indigenous knowledge, traditions, and forms of cultural and artistic expression that contribute to the respect of all creation, cultural diversity, and solidarity. Infamously known in the southern regions as “Ubuntu” which is etymologically synonymous with “bantu” (i.e., people). In essence ubuntu is a way of life that describes the identity of a people and their cultural ideals.
It is from these indigenous African cultural ideals that the music and artistry of DaniMali draws its inspiration. The which philosophy that advocates that culture and artistic expression is one of the most effective means to advocate for social cohesion and cultural re-appropriation which also contribute to overcome the challenges of globalization. Moreover, this is in line with the national values that animated the forbearers of the new South Africa which are outlined in the inclusive constitution and freedom charter that aided in the peaceful transition from the oppressive apartheid regime to the example that is the Rainbow nation.
