News24’s inaugural On the Record summit, in partnership with Nedbank, brings together South Africa’s pre-eminent thought leaders and future shapers on 1 September 2022.
The event will provide a platform for the country’s business, political and civil leaders to participate in robust, thoughtful discussions about South Africa’s future. The summit is taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre and is the first major real life thought leadership event since 2020.
The summit brings together leaders who will play a pivotal role in shaping South Africa’s immediate future in governance, politics, the economy, climate change, law enforcement and civil society activism.
On the Record with News24 will check the pulse of the nation with our focus firmly set on the future.
The keynote address will be delivered by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Other confirmed speakers include Eskom CEO André de Ruyter, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, Investigating Directorate head Andrea Johnson, BLSA CEO Busi Mavuso, Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse, former public protector Thuli Madonsela and Gift of the Givers founder Imtiaz Sooliman.
Panel discussions will be facilitated by News24’s editors including editor-in-chief Adriaan Basson.
The event will promptly start at 09:00 and registration will take place from 08:00. This is a full-day event. A delegate pack, lunch and tea breaks are included in the cost. Limited individual tickets are available and attendees booking tables of six will receive a discount.

Please note that lunch will be served buffet-style on 1 September, which means guests can choose from a selection of foods on the menu provided. Therefore, only religious dietary requirements such as Halaal and Kosher will be accommodated for with prior notice. Any other special dietary requirements will incur a surcharge of R200 per person. Due to the high-profile nature of the speakers, line-up changes can occur on short notice and News24 cannot be held responsible for any such adjustments. News24 remains committed to having speakers who are well-informed and specialists in their fields take part in the event.
The capacity for and management of the event will be subject to current government’s Covid-19 regulations. There is no vaccination policy currently in place, but this might change if government regulations warrant it. Any changes will be communicated to ticket holders in a timely manner.
