Suspension Workshop

Sat Jun 11, 12:00 - Sun Jun 12, 16:00

Embodiment's New Rope Space

ABOUT

In this intensive, taught over two days, we will cover the fundamentals of rope suspension.

Suspension is a non-trivial skillset. It should be treated with the respect it deserves. This intensive will cover the basics of suspending from a hip harness as taught by us and an upper-body harness of your choosing (if required).

Specifically, we will cover:

  • Creating, locking and managing up-lines
  • Hip harness construction and loading
  • Hoisting and releasing in sensible ways

This workshop is limited to 4 pairs. We will not be able to pair riggers and bottoms for this workshop - we expect that attendees will have a baseline level of trust between one another before signing up.

This is a technically rigorous workshop, so please ensure that you are well-rested, hydrated and ready to learn on both days.

Outline

Session 1:

  • 12 - 1:30PM: Harness construction
  • 2PM - 4PM: Up-lines with objects; up-line from a single ankle

Session 2:

  • 12 - 1:30PM: Upper-body harness lab
  • Lab here means: tie the upper body harness of your choosing and we will evaluate / tweak it before allowing full suspension from it.
  • 2PM - 4PM: Suspension from hip harness and upper-body harness
