Godfrey Johnson is performing live at Café Roux this June, and he’s ready to take Noordhoek on an exciting journey through the lives, loves, losses and intimate moods of a very special selection of songs.
Godfrey is well known for captivating audiences with his solo performances, evoking a theatre of storytelling with just his voice and the piano. Winner and multi-nominee of the Fleur did Cap awards, Godfrey is a highly accomplished pianist, singer, actor and songwriter, and constantly performs at all major venues, and all the intimate ones too.
Experience the laughter and tears, rage and regret, serenity and satire of Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen, Kurt Weill, David Bowie and Supertramp. And fall in love with Noel Coward and Cole Porter in same breath. With some of Godfrey’s own songs too.
Godfrey Johnson is an award-winning musician, composer, actor, director, and singer, whose intimate interpretations of Brel’s songs have won him a devoted audience both at home and abroad – with numerous radio stations from the USA to Portugal broadcasting his recordings.
Godfrey’s recent work includes performing alongside Pieter-Dirk Uys and in his one- man play – the four-time Fleur du Cap nominated VASLAV. The recent release of his studio album, Brel 2021, marks an important moment in his career, bringing years of carefully nurtured interpretations to a new audience.
