ABOUT

James Byaruhanga is the General Manager- Raxio Data centre and has been at the forefront of building, operating, and maintaining the 1st Tier III Carrier Neutral Data Centre in Uganda. James leads the entire team, builds the business strategy, products and solutions in the data centre. James is also part of the Raxio Group over all Africa wide rollout.

With over 20 years of experience in ISP, Data Centre and Telco in Network Administration, Service & Infrastructure Support and Executive Management, James has comprehensive and in-depth Knowledge of Wireless, VSAT and Cable Networks, Project Management of cross-functional projects in ISP and Telco related fields as well as Strategy and Planning Expertise on Voice, Video and Data Products. 

Preceding his current role at Raxio Data Centre, James served as a C.T.O. / partner at Roke Telecom before being promoted to Chief Operations Officer in charge of sales, marketing, business development, product development, administration and strategic planning department all for a period of 9 years and 5 months.

James is the (founding partner) of House of DJs, a concepts and events company that is behind the execution of some of Kampala’s most popular social events such as Blankets and Wine, a family-centered music event that incorporates fashion and art. House of Djs is also a experiential agency and that has worked with all the big brands in Uganda for example UBL, Coca Cola, NBL, Pepsi, MTN, UTB, Uganda Airlines, Movit, Roke, to mention but a few

James is a Director at Trade-Lance Ltd through which its leading USSD service *252# offers instant and unlimited access to all financial services, goods and services, school fees payments, airtime and internet bundles, event tickets utility payments and so much more. Trade lance is also the market leader in USSD event ticketing

Finally, James is also a Director at Roke Investment International Ltd which invests heavily in the areas of ICT and last mile connectivity solutions. Roke Investment is the owner of Roke Telkom, Roke Wood & Roke Cloud. Roke Investment is 100% locally owned and has been in the market for 16 years

James sits on several boards including the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU) which is a multi-stakeholder initiative formed by private individuals from Uganda, with the vision of providing professional guidance to individuals and organizations in the private sector, as well as offering advisory services to government on policy-based issues.

James has an ambition in Tourism and Farming, He is a partner in Shisa Nyama Village, Tasha’s Deli & Butchershop which has a huge ambition in a farm to plate business model is currently in its 2nd year of Operation with a prime cut Butchershop, Sausage line and other meat products.

James completed his primary education at Kigezi High School Primary and proceeded to St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) and Makerere College School for his O & A level education. He later graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

He is also a Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP), Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), Cisco Certified Internet Professional (CCIP), ITIL Professional and Extreme Networks Specialist (ENS).

James enjoys time spent with family and friends, cooking, listening to music and brainstorming ideas within and outside the workspace. He is also heavily involved in other entrepreneurial activities such as farming, ICT and also mentorship.
