Dearest Regenerates, Retrobates, Rebels and Ruffians,

After a 2 year long hibernation while the world turned upside-down around us and everything we thought we knew got shot through the air like an exploded anvil, it is now time to gather our creative and Aftermathematical wits about us, dust off those dancin’ boots and feather boas, crank up the ol’ boombox booty and give this thing a new reset… the GREATEST reset!

New era, new venue, new VOOMA!

WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

 Aftermath is:

 - a carnival of creativity and self-expression based on 100% participation principle, held this year on an exquisite off-grid mountainside homestead.

 - a playful celebration of our being, our wonderful gifts, and the life within us.

 - a happy and loving inclusive gathering of people, friends & family, who feel the need to make merry magnificent!

 One does not attend Aftermath - You CREATE Aftermath.

THIS YOU MUST KNOW:

Participation:

Everyone is expected to create, to play and display, to add their energy and talents, and to take responsibility for the success of the event. 

No money zone:

Nothing is for sale at the event. No vendors, no advertising, no branding. Apart from your initial contribution of R300 which goes towards overhead costs and infrastructure.

Leave no trace:

There is no crew, no workers, nobody to clean up. We clean up after ourselves and leave no trace. Cigarette butts, cans, wrappers, tissues, cable ties – everything goes in your bag or pocket before it even hits the ground.

Self-reliance for this particular event is absolutely necessary. Humble Roots Homestead has 3 composting toilets and fresh water available. There will also be hired toilets. Everything else that you need to make this Aftermath as epic as possible is your responsibility.

NOTE: STRICTLY NO FIRES AT CAMPS. This is a strict condition by the landowners. There will be a designated braai area at the central, communal fires.

GATE CAMP (DIE PORTAAL) 

 Gates Open:

 FRIDAY (23rd) 10:00 - 20:00

 SATURDAY (24th) 10:00 - 20:00

 CLOSED ON SUNDAY (25th)

 Your first encounter will be gate! Here you will be met by our fantastic team of greeters and sent off to sniff out your camping spot. Make sure you bring your ticket & follow their instructions! 

KITCHEN & COMMUNAL FIRE AREA

 BRING FOOD & STUFF 

 There will be a communal fire pit and braai barrels if in need of a barbie and the communal outdoor kitchen if in need of a stove or a kettle. No fridge though, so don't forget to pack your cooler box with extra ice.

SHEBEEN SCENE

 DONATE YA DRANK

 Where steam punk meets Soweto. Bring your donations (be it a Schweppes lemonade or a bottle of gin) & drink all niiiight with your Empress of the Lituation.

 No Alcohol Will Be Served To Anyone Under 18 Years of Age. Proof of Age May Be Required. Anyone Under the Age of 18 Found Within The Premises Will Be Asked To Leave.

DIE ROKPONDOK

 SING YA SONGS

It's time to practice your favourite tunes and gear up for the stage of ROKPONDOK PRODUCTIONS! As we do every year, Die Rokpondok - At Aftermath venue will be hosting quality live music - performed by YOU!

 Come forward with your favourite instruments, wackiest stage personality, a jamming spirit and let's make some music.

Die Rokpondok is powered by a 3k solar system and an epic in-house sound rig. We have a fully mic’d Gretsch acoustic drum kit that sounds amazing and some vocal mics and stands. Backline amps are not provided and additional microphones and cables are always useful.

COLORFIELDS TEMPLE

A self-built live-in sculpture, a serene chillout space, a place for stretching the mind and bodkin with yoga or jazzercize, astrological readings, drifting away into outer space with the Colorfields Four Directions Sonic Adventure, workshops and talks. This area is also powered by the Humble Roots Homestead solar system and a second sound rig. The Colorfields Temple is the living home space of the Humble Roots Homestead owners. Please respect it as such. 

RUST & DUST

 Word wakker! Word wakker! Die dag word al kakker!

Bring your rusty-dusty dancing shoes for beats, skulls, pirates and fire. We run a tight shipwreck!

SANCTUARY

 The perfect quiet zone with tea, coffee and gentleness.

THE DAM

Complete with swings and zipline, this is any kid’s happy place, young or old. Please be responsible at the dam. Remember that we have children of all ages and we need to look after and look out for one another.

 - an aggro, disrespectful, selfish or critical attitude

 IMPORTANT

 1. NO CAMPFIRES!! We cannot stress this enough. We are in the farmlands and the mountainside and this is a HIGH RISK FIRE ZONE. There are designated areas for fires. The use of gas cookers and cigarettes etc. must be extremely diligent and responsible at all times.

 2. Stay away from NO GO ZONES (they are there for your safety)

 3. Park your car so that you (and those around you) can leave in case of emergency

 4. Please be extremely careful at all times when driving your vehicles! There are children and animals underfoot.

 5. Be responsible for your trash! (dispose of cigarette butts responsibly) 

 6. Gate Camp closes at 20:00! (Contact us for exceptions - otherwise you won't be allowed in) 

 7. NO CAMPFIRES!!! Yes we know we said it already … it’s that important!!

GIVING & SHARING

Whatever it is that you and your gang dream up - big or small; live or still; loud, lettered or lit; sewn, said, sung or strutted; nailed, welded, painted… Bring your creative project into the fray. Or, if you can think of other ways to add meaning and fun to the mix, even if it’s just a tiny touch, do it. There’ll be open terrain, there’ll be inside venues, there’ll be help and there’ll be plenty of appreciative peeps. So, think out of the corrugated container, prep your plan, dress up or dress down as zany as you like and join in to make it happen!

ONE LAST THING...

 Aftermath is a fun friendly, play friendly, jol friendly, child friendly zone.
