Climate Actions Now is promoting this fundraiser as a non-profit organisation whose mission is to help young people, especially those from underserved backgrounds and communities. Through our activities, we help them reach their full potential and build resilience, life skills and career opportunities in times of climate change. www.climateactionsnow.org

Cairo Cpt says about this event... "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. I am so buzzed to perform at this great benefit show to see my friends and supporters having a blast when we all come together to assist the good work of www.climateactionsnow.org as they are helping our communities building and grooming our future leaders. Their feeding scheme helps many hungry children get a good breakfast before school. Thank you Climate Action Now for bringing change to disadvantaged communities"

TinTa Tribe says. "we confirm all that Cairo says here and thank him and his management for helping us make this event a big success. We started the CAN Breakfast Club in Siqalo during lockdown. This event will now help us raise money and awareness to continue our work and hopefully support such food initiatives in other townships. We see this as the beginning of many collaborations with CT artists and hope to set up a school tour in CT soon.

Robert Stephenson from Ireland, founder of CAN says... CAN is delighted to have supported the Breakfast Club over the past two years and to have been instrumental in launching this new CAN Cape Town music movement. This brings together the best talent from CT in a way that promotes awareness of the emerging music scene here and the cause of Climate Change awareness and solutions. CAN will also film and broadcast the event and release and promote some of the best CT artists in the UK and Ireland, including through live shows and festivals, and help CT artists go international in a cool way."

CAN Music is the music arm of Climate Actions Now, investing in the unique sounds and artists of Cape Town, South Africa. Our events are about discovering and promoting music, art and young talent with purpose. This is especially important in light of climate change, pandemics, mental health, violence, and the lack of opportunities for young, emerging artists. These issues are of great concern to society and increasingly to young artists, some of whom have unfortunately taken their own lives.

About this event

Climate Actions Now (CAN) Music is pleased to invite you and your friends to a series of benefit events at Cape Town's premier venue and nightclub, the District on Harrington Street, on June 4, 2022 from 8pm to 4am.

These events serve a dual purpose of showcasing Cape Town's best emerging talent and raising funds for the Climate Actions Now CAN breakfast club program.

To that end, we are pleased to announce Cairo Cpt as our first headliner and to introduce TinTa Tribe from Siqalo. (TinTa stands for "touch" in the Xhosa language), as they produce songs that touch people's hearts and minds and fit well with the CAN music movement. TinTa Tribe, one of the main actors of the evening, has just released its first "single" and music video "Yek'ugowa", which means "stop stressing" https://youtu.be/4oDdwlToSE4.

SGG (Shaun Musungate) is one of the most impressive young rappers in SA. His single 'African Boy' is scheduled to be released the night of the event on CAN Music with a video.

CAN is also delighted to welcome DJ Tease, Uyanda (Deep House), Nwaiiza (Gqom) and Jay R Ukhona as special guests making this the most memorable night in Cape Town in years.

The evening will start at 8pm with a free networking event where young people from all parts of Cape Town who are active in the climate movement can come together to network and socialise.

The event is also open to anyone who wants to make a difference on this existential issue. It can start a trend of making climate activism more fun, where new friendships and relationships can be formed or refreshed.

This social event will be followed by music from 9pm with some of Cape Town's best DJs and original art.

The District at Harrington's is located on the top floor of 61 Harrington Street, with the entrance on Constitution Street. This is Cape Town's premier event venue and nightclub. The nightclub has state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems to entertain popular electronic DJs as well as bands.
