As a double bass soloist, Leon Bosch has performed concertos across the world and recorded 15 solo CDs, with varied programmes ranging from Hungarian, Russian and British repertoire to explorations of composers such as von Dittersdorf, Valls and Cervera-Bret. He is also a champion of new music and is working with today’s leading composers to establish a diverse body of repertoire for the instrument. In recent years he has returned to his roots with a project to commission South African composers. The first CD, The South African Double Bass, was released in February 2020 and for this CD launch concert, Leon appears alongside composers and pianists, Grant McLachlan and David Earl.
The concert on Sunday 29 May 2022 starts at 3pm and will last approximately 2 hours. Tickets are R200 per person and include selected wines from Banhoek’s renowned Oldenburg Wine Estate and finger food at interval. Student / learner tickets are offered at R50 per concert at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch. Guests are invited to come early or stay after the concert to enjoy the tranquility of the Old Nectar gardens.
