Song of Norway

Gerrit Koorsen (cello) and Eugene Joubert (piano) join together for an excellent concert of gorgeous cello works. The core work in this chamber music recital is Edvard Grieg’s majestic Cello Sonata, a work of great beauty and scope that evokes the inherent inspiration of Norway’s folk music on the composer. Preceding this work are Robert Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces, as well as Gabriel Fauré’s tender Elégie. Joubert is an old favourite in Nelspruit, and has performed here many times. Koorsen has also performed here with Songs of Praise and several times with the Community Orchestra, but this is his first full concert in the Lowveld.
