Blockhouse Gap Hike (Simon's Town)

Tue Aug 9, 06:45 - Tue Aug 9, 10:15

Seaforth, Simon's Town

ABOUT

Sweeping views across False Bay accompany us throughout this wonderful short sunrise hike on the slopes of Simonsberg! We pass through gorgeous young fynbos, enjoy spectacular views, observe historical features and keep an eye out for klipspringers and whales.

The hike involves a gradual incline of 340m over a well built footpath which is a bit rugged and loose under foot in places. We reach the old Blockhouse for a mid-hike break before retracing our steps. The highlight is seeing the beautiful Serruria hirsuta blooming in abundance! A critically endangered member of the Protea Family endemic to the Swartkopberge.
