Uitkyk Hike (Franschhoek)

Sun Jul 10, 08:00 - Sun Jul 10, 12:00
Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve

A pretty route through pristine fynbos to the most well-known spot in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve – Uitkyk – which overlooks the hidden amphitheatre of Wemmershoek Valley. The trail gains height quickly to Breakfast Rock before levelling out in the wide fynbos-clad valley. Roughly midway we cross a lovely perennial stream – which should be flowing well at this time of year. We may see the shy little Clasping-leaf Proteas in flower along the route - a winter highlight! The mid-hike turnaround spot of Uitkyk is the perfect location for enjoying brunch whilst admiring sheer mountain grandeur of the towering peaks.
