First Contact Day is the date in the Star Trek universe, where the Vulcans make contact with Earth for the first time. The date will have been 5 April 2063. According to Vulcan values, which eventually become known as The Prime Directive in the United Federation of Planets, a species with more advanced technologies does not interfere in the natural development of another species, and will not make contact with them until they demonstrate warp-capable travel. In other words, until a planet’s people can travel in space outside of their own solar system, other species to do not contact them.
