We are thrilled to present a special double bill featuring two stunning jazz bands of our time!
At a time when most people feel constantly distracted by technology and barraged by the news, authenticity and straightforward honesty are paramount. There’s something about the music of iPhupho L’ka Biko that cuts right through the noise of the world and speaks plainly to the soul. The band will perform for one night only before embarking on their much-anticipated Cape Town tour.
Asher Gamedze's ensemble attempts to play with freedom through feelings of melancholy, joy and celebration. Gamedze's work is inspired by free jazz and spiritual jazz of the late 1960s, and he plays exquisite, astral jazz that seems to be informed by John Coltrane, Lonnie Liston Smith, and Brother Ah. The Cape Town based musician brings to the stage his unconventional style, experimental, unorthodox, and rebellious.
