Biography of Michael Bester

Michael Bester studied jazz guitar at UCT and completed a Master of Contemporary Performance at Berklee College of Music, Valencia, in 2017.

He recently released his debut album, entitled “Now, not yet”. The title refers to the tensions that we navigate in life, between the realities we face and the ideals we strive for, as well as the artist’s experience of always striving for more in their creative process.

The music draws on jazz, rock and world music influences, creating a canvas for dialogue between the musicians.

Michael is joined by a world-class band of some of South Africa’s finest improvising musicians
