St David's Marist Inanda PTA Marist Gold Rose Orders - March 2022

In celebration of St David's 80th birthday in 2021, the PTA officially registered a rose through Ludwig's Roses in honour of this special occasion. This beautiful, bold yellow rose was named Marist Gold!

The first round of propagated roses sold out in 2021, and we have received many reports and photos of Marist Gold rose bushes flourishing in people's gardens! We are very excited to have our second tranche of roses ready for sale in time for upcoming special events such as Easter and Mothers' Day. Planting a Marist rose is also a way of marking or commemorating a special event or significant milestone in your son's life, and watching it grow in tandem with your son's journey.

Ludwig’s Description of 'Marist Gold'

The rose chosen to honour eighty years of Marist education in Sandton produces shapely blooms of a clear yellow colour in great profusion - onto a slender stem. With its growth habit and flowering ability, it fits within the Flora Tea range - lots of blooms with the classical hybrid tea shape. It is suitable to be planted in groups or large beds, in single rows as borders to shrubberies and also in pots. The eco-chic green leaves are an added attraction on the hip-to-chest height growing bushes. Picking stems with tight buds for the vase allows for observing the slow unfolding of the firm petals revealing a deeper golden hue with a distinct very fine pink line on the petal edge and the prominent golden stamen and pistils. It has a moderate scent exuding from the opening blooms.

We planted a number of Marist Gold rose bushes in the bed on the left as you exit around the circle in the main car park and these have grown substantially and produced some beautiful blooms already since planting. We anticipate opening sales of the roses twice a year with specific collection dates, which will be communicated to you. The roses will be sold as part of the PTA's ongoing fundraising efforts and all profits will be directed to PTA projects that will benefit the St David's community - the current identified project being some significant upgrades to the Champagnat Hall. There will be a couple of collection dates between now and the end of term as ordered are received for this tranche. The PTA will be in contact with you about these dates.
