Norval Foundation

ABOUT

Come and learn the art of adding embroidered personal touches to clothes and gifts with Andie Reeves, textile artist and owner of the Cape Town Craft Club. Held at the inspiring Norval Foundation, this workshop is for anyone who wants to learn a new skill, make something beautiful with their hands, and treat themselves to a few hours of quality creative time.

We will spend the morning learning the basics of embroidery, with a focus on the best stitches to use when creating beautiful letters and words. Perfect for absolute beginners, this workshop will cover everything from threading a needle to choosing the right fabric and threads, from tracing a design onto fabric to choosing which stitches to use.

Participants will walk away knowing a number of essential embroidery lettering techniques, all the equipment needed to continue stitching at home, and the desire to add cute hand-sewn words to everything they can find.

Ticket includes all materials. Spaces are limited and all social distancing precautions will be followed.

Norval Foundation is a centre for art and cultural expression. We are dedicated to the research, education and exhibition of 20th- and 21st-century visual art from South Africa and beyond. Located in the Steenberg area of Cape Town, adjacent to Table Mountain National Park, the Norval Foundation combines the experience of art with an appreciation for nature.
