This week Mangrove is celebrating the life of legendary Hollywood actor Sidney Poitier, who died on 6th January aged 94.


In 1964, he became the first African-American and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor.


Hailed as the "Martin Luther King Jr. of the movies”, Poitier was hugely influential in defying stereotypes of Black men and paving the way for Black actors in film.??
