ABOUT

Come and join the inspirational gifted singer and songwriter Charlyn Davids for an intimate night of music and inspiration at Gallery 44 and Theatre.

Charlyn Davids, born and bred in the beautiful Mother City-Cape Town. Her parents were ministers and with the result she grew up in various places, Port Elizabeth as well as Johannesburg. She is blessed with 4 beautiful children Charlize, Kristen, Nika and Luke. Even though she loved music and had no ambition to pursue a music career at all she at 9 years old pursued being an AIRHOSTESS as it was known in the 70's and 80's. At 33years old and having all 4 kids, she had that dream come true and she enjoyed flying for 6 and half glorious years. The first time she sang in public was at her late grandmother’s funeral and later at huge church conventions, funerals and weddings as her confidence grew.

At age 17 she discovered Sandi Patty and fell head over heels in love with her music. She started buying all her material and trained her voice with hers. In 1990 a female group called Symphonics, who also mostly sang Sandi Patty’s music heard her sing at a youth rally and invited her to join their group as they needed a soprano. She fitted in like a glove and was part of that group for many years. The late Peter Brown, who was their music and choir master, introduced her to the finest music, so her ears developed to love and listen to music that affects the heart strings.

Charlyn Davids underwent a rapid awakening and ventured on a path of writing her own music. She met producers like Stephen Sampson. Jeremy Koeries, Tim Feder and Riaan Smit that would open a path of creativity for every genre of song she would write. Her music was directed purely around Gods Love and Grace for humanity, as her life was transformed so did the lyrics and music. Her debut album was born out of this Grace Awakening that took over her life, she just could not stop writing song after song and melody after melody. TAPESTRY OF GRACE was released in front of over 800 people in 2015 with a string quartet and a hand-picked band and backing vocals. She would late become the VGMA BEST NEWCOMER winner that same year. She had a basket full of encouraging songs that lead her to release a love song I LOVE YOU which aired on Radio Goodhope. 2016 was her year of strength and a production STRONGER was born, produced and directed by Esra Overberg. This power production featured idols winner Sasha Lee Davids, the melodic SAYC and many more. She enjoyed interviews and performances on SABC, TBN and other television interviews. Charlyn Davids later released her second album YOU KNOW ME which portrayed a higher level of the love God has for His creation. This album confirmed her craft as a song writer and artist.
