ABOUT
Brazilian Music & Storytelling dressed by Jazz, African and other influences. Artists with different backgrounds coming together to give life to a new project connecting two countries across the ocean.
Oceanico is a transcontinental music project. It sparked in July 2020, with the reconnection of two artists and old friends, Augusto Castro & Paulo Costa. With lockdown, restrictions and some “extra time” available, they rekindled their partnership (across the ocean) writing new songs and working on some old ones. The project was properly lit when Paulo presented the scratch takes of 9 original compositions to Blake Hellaby, a South African musician, composer and producer who completed the team, sharing their vision of a multicultural non-traditional music production. This first album was produced and recorded with collaborations of 14 different artists from Brazil and South Africa and the outcome is in fact something to note.
After over a year of work, the FULL ALBUM the album was released in December last year. Nine original songs carrying & telling stories, messages and feelings which will make your imagination fly and your body move.
Join us for the OFFICIAL celebration of this achievement. We will talk about what/how it all happened and give you a LIVE EXPERIENCE with some of the best musicians in Cape Town. Besides a show with the songs from the album, we will also give a taste of some genuine Bossa Nova, Samba & other Brazilian goods for you to – inevitably – appreciate.
