Sounds and Words is a creative project and artistic movement. We blend the literary aesthetics, rich in poetry and spoken word, with the musical affect, rich in different genres of music, such as Afro-beat, Jazz, Soul, Reggae, Dancehall, Funk, High-Life and Classical.

We are a collective of creatives that seek to redefine creative spaces and curate a conscious and intimate atmosphere that facilitates a deeper level of understanding with both the audience and the space. Our art speaks to audiences that cut across the spectrum of class, age and race within our society, carrying an essential and positive message that must be shared.

This vision was imagined out of a thirst to forge a new art awakening and revolution that carries a sincere message. The project has been running for over 3 years and we have performed at an array of events (virtual events/conferences across the globe included), festivals and venues across Cape Town, South Africa: [Baxter Theatre, Muizenberg Festival, The Village Vibes, Theatre Art Admin Collective, Jazz festivals of all sorts].

Our poetic and musical materials are historically, academically, and socially informed and our diverse musical and cultural backgrounds help to nurture, critique, and shape the delivery of these art performances.
