ABOUT

Headlining the show we have... ROBBY COLLINS (JHB.. although he is originally from DBN). Robby Collins’ rise from actor on the Durban theatre circuit to fully fledged stand-up comedian has taken all of 4 years, still considered one of the emerging faces comedy Robby’s career achievements belies his years on the comedy circuit. A comedian whose material draws on real life comes across at ease on the stage and has a very believable stage presence, endearing himself to audience with his gawky giraffe frame. Robby has played to the biggest comedy audiences in South Africa with appearances at ‘The Heavy Weight Comedy Jam’ and ‘Blacks Only’ comedy shows. Further proof of his talent lies in his personal selection by SA’s top comics as their opening act, Marc Lottering, Eugene Khoza and Trevor Noah. His Tour with Trevor Noah was extensive and constituted over 50 shows all over Southern Africa. All his on stage endeavour earned a well-deserved nomination for “breakthrough act of the year” at the inaugural Comics Choice Awards.

Next up we have MOJAK LEHOKO (JHB).
Mojak Lehoko is a an international Emmy nominated writer, Comic's Choice nominated stand up comedian, and actor.
After beginning his stand up career in a dingy bar in 2010, he went on to debut his one man show "How Did I Get Here" in Johannesburg and Cape Town to great reviews. His mum had this to say: "Great show, but can you take out the dustbin?"
With various writing and performance credits on the satirical news show Late Nite News, Mojak continued to write on a plethora of tv shows. Plethora means one right? Anyway, Mojak wrote a screenplay for Etv's Ekasi stories movie series, titled "A Wanna Be." Mojak is currently performing stand up comedy across the country and touring his one man shows.

And if that WASN'T ENOUGH. We have SIMMI AREFF (JHB) as the host for the night!
Simmi Areff is rated as one of the top up and coming comedians in the country (City Press) and he has the credentials to prove it. Go ahead ask him or ask Forbes magazine – 3 page spread!
Simmi has toured extensively throughout the country doing gigs in small towns and culminating in a SOLD OUT one – man show run at the Joburg Theatre. But Simmi is not only about performing…he is also good friends with Trevor Noah (Go check who Trevor follows on Twitter. Simmi is up there). Simmi has shared the stage with every big act in the country and has headlined almost every club in the country and is a resident act on the South Africa’s biggest ensemble live show “Kings & Queens of comedy” which has audiences of 4000 plus at any given time. If you haven’t seen Simmi live then maybe you have seen him on television. Simmi has appeared on tv shows such as Late Night News with Loyiso Gola and was asked to perform for Comedy Central’s Live at Parkers. Simmi also dabbled in the art of radio before taking comedy full time. He was a producer on 947’s Breakfast Xpress with Whackhead Simpson and a part of the Big Breakfast team on East Coast Radio…But now you can hear him doing alternative cricket commentary on the web for the show Comedians at the Cricket
