ONLINE - a Virtual Short Film Competition


Filmmakers and film enthusiasts from all over the Johannesburg, ZA area will compete during the weekend of 3-5 December 2021 to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. They are given a random genre at Friday's, 3 Dec @ 6pm) online Facebook kickoff, and are then advised of the character name, prop and line of dialogue that must feature in their film. Filmmakers then have 48 hours to make magic! A week later (11&12 Dec) they get to watch their premier film on the STER-KINEKOR BIG SCREEN @ Mall of Africa, Gauteng, with friends, family and colleagues. The winning film of 2021 will be announced at our Awards Ceremony on Sunday, 19 December @ 3pm. The winning city film will go up against other films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2022 in the USA, for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 Short Film Corner. This event is GREAT for team building, family bonding, making new friends, or community building. It's just SO much Fun to do! And you need only have access to a filming device (mobile or camera) and editing software. Any form of film is acceptable, i.e. animation, live action, stop motion, etc...
