Edenvale Weekly Meditation Class - 24th November 2021
Edenvale Weekly Meditation Class - 24th November 2021 with Gen Kelsang Mila
Meditation to Transform Grief
Topic : Helping those who have died
So many people are experiencing grief now, eventually we too will have to face the loss of loved ones, and our own death. The Buddhist understanding of death and dying is enormously beneficial. It is based on understanding from those who have directly experienced the indestructible nature of the mind and that has been affirmed by practitioners over many generations.
In this series Gen Kelsang Mila will share Buddha's advice on not only how to deal skillfully with our grief but also help those who are dying or have died. In particular it will allow us to acknowledge our own impermanence and empower us to truly make the most of our lives, to live and die joyfully and meaningfully.
The meditation class will be presented in a way that is accessible to everyone, and no religious obligation is required.
Everyone is Welcome!

What to expect at a class:
Be guided in a short breathing meditation and connect to an experience of inner peace. No prior experience is necessary.
Every week the teachings explore one aspect of Dharma, or Buddha’s teachings, which focus on solutions to problems in daily life, inducing genuine optimism and increased happiness.
At the end of the class, we conclude with a meditation based on the teaching that was given during the class.
“The real source of happiness is inner peace. If our mind is peaceful, we will be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we will never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful. We can understand this through our own experience. For instance, even if we are in the most beautiful surroundings and have everything we need, the moment we get angry any happiness we may have disappears. This is because anger has destroyed our inner peace." How to Transform Your Life. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the class starts to register and settle in.
It is helpful to bring a pen and notebook if you would like to take notes.
