When Mozart said that ‘music is not in the notes but in the silence between’, he could not have predicted the months of silence and empty concert halls that the Covid-19 pandemic would leave in its wake, nor how we would yearn for the type of silence he was referring to. Now, in their first return to the stage since the start of the national lockdown, the local chamber choir, Molen Kórus, brings the sound of voices in harmony back to Potchefstroom as part of the annual concert series presented by the NWU School of Music. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, this well-known adult choir’s concert programme is filled with a vast variety of choral music; from classic favourites to renaissance, romantic and more contemporary pieces that promise to satisfy every taste and honour the choir’s history.
Come join Molen Kórus at 18:30 on 19 October 2021 in the NWU School of Music Conservatory Hall as they once again fill the empty concert halls that fell silent with beautiful sounds.

Toe Mozart gesê het dat ‘musiek nie die note is nie, maar die stiltes tussenin’, kon hy nie die maande se stilte en leë konsertsale voorspel wat die Covid-19 pandemie in sy volgstroom sou nalaat nie, nog minder hoe ons na die stilte waarna hy verwys het, sou hunker nie. Nou, in hulle eerste terugkeer na die verhoog sedert die begin van die nasionale inperking, bring die plaaslike kamerkoor, Molen Kórus, die klank van stemme in harmonie terug na Potchefstroom as deel van die NWU Skool vir Musiek se jaarlikse konsertreeks. Ter viering van hulle 10de bestaansjaar, is hierdie welbekende volwasse koor se konsertprogram gevul met ‘n wye verskeidenheid koormusiek; van klassieke gunstelinge tot renaissance-werke, asook romantiese en meer kontemporêre musiek wat beloof om elke smaak te bevredig en die koor se geskiedenis te eer.
