ABOUT

The Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre Concerto Festival features ten young instrumental soloists accompanied by the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Liam Burden. As the Concerto Festival also serves as a platform for young conductors to hone their symphony orchestra conducting skills, Jacobus de Jager will open the concert with an overture by Nicolai. The soloists include two young bassoon players, Keagan Coetzee and Liam Slabbert, both current or past pupils of the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre. The programme includes concerti by Vivaldi, Gluck, Cimarosa, Weissenborn, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov, Rodrigo and Kabalevsky for piano, violin, oboe, bassoon, guitar and xylophone.
