ABOUT

After a successful event in January which featured The Very Best (UK) with Baaba Maal (Senegal), Winston Marshall (Mumford & Sons) DJ Set and a superb selection of local acts, we are back with a new theme and a completely new revamped format for YOH! which we are super excited to share with you!

Our next event takes place at The Assembly on the 27th of February and the theme is 'PROM NIGHT' in celebration of the month of love. Come dressed in your best and bring/meet a lover.

So what does this entail exactly?

1. FILM SCREENING:
We will be screening the new Coen Brothers film, 'Hail, Caesar!' at theLabia Theatre (Yes, we have teamed up with The Labia for all screenings going forward!) at 20:30. We are selling 50 Special Early Bird tickets which include a FREE ticket to the screening at 20:30 on the night of the event!

2. DRESS UP:
Come dressed in your best prom/formal dance outfits and get in to the party for cheaper!

3. FOAM PARTY (The Annex only):
For the first time ever there will be a FOAM PARTY at The Assembly in The Annex (so if you want to stay away from the foam and ignore it, you can as it takes place in a designated area in the venue.) Please remember to bring an alternative outfit to your formal dance clothing unless you want it wet.

4. LIVE MUSIC:
On the Main Stage we have the following acts gracing us with their presence:

John Wizards
John Wizards is a South African band from Cape Town. Formed in 2010 by musician and the mainstay of the band John Wizards, whose real name is John Withers. The band consists of drummer and percussionist Raphael Segerman, bassist and keyboardist Alex Montgomery, guitarist Tom Parker and guitarist and keyboardist Geoff Brink. Described as a mix of R&B, Soukous, Afropop, Reggae, House, Shangaan Electro and Dub, the band’s self­titled first album was released in September 2013 on Planet Mu (OFFICIAL). They have subsequently spent the past years touring and playing at major European festivals such as Glastonbury Festival andPrimavera Sound, as well as performing regularly in their home country. The band is currently underway with writing their much eagerly awaited sophomore album.

Maxime Alexander
Maxime Alexander of 1991 played an extroadinary set as one of the local acts supporting The Very Best at their YOH! show in January. Expect an audio visual extravaganza of which you have never experienced before.

Seferino
Seferino is an idiosyncratic pop songwriter from Rondebosch. Last year, he released a music video and EP on Ryan Hemsworth's Secret Songs label and is due to perform in the USA this April. He also plays in John Wizards.

Dada Shiva
Dada Shiva is a rapper-producer based in Cape Town. His sound explores the sonic signatures of fire and water and the manipulation of both light and darkness.

5. NEW YOH! CLOTHING:
We will be releasing brand new limited edition YOH! 'HEARTSORE' denim jackets. Also important, two lucky BEST DRESSED attendees will win a YOH! 'HIS & HERS' denim jacket! Your chances are doubled if you are a couple who are dressed well.

6. KISSING BOOTH:
There will be a kissing booth so pucker up! Our kissers will be announced in the build up to the event.

7. PHOTO BOOTH:
There will be a photo booth where you will get a beautiful snap with your partner for the night.

8. FREE YOH! 'HEARTSORE' HAMPER
The first 30 people through the door get an extra special YOH! 'HEARTSORE' HAMPER so come early!

9. MESSAGES TO YOUR CRUSH AS PART OF THE VISUALS:
We will be projecting messages on loop from you (an anonymous message or one with your name on it, whichever you choose) to your crush on the screen. All you need to do is send your message for your crush to [email protected]

10. PHOTOGRAPHY:
Dune Tilley will be shooting for YOH! and The Cobra Snake.
We will also give a disposable camera to one act and one lucky attendee.
