Jim Beam Welcome Sessions: Morena Leraba & Afronaut live at The Boxshop (Soweto)

Jim Beam is bringing us together. The merging of artists, venues, and music lovers. The feeling of being a part of the SA music scene with the launch of their Jim Beam Welcome Sessions. The Welcome Sessions are all about creating connections between amazing acts, some you wouldn’t ordinarily expect to feature together.

Morena Leraba and Afronaut would not normally go together on a line-up, which is exactly why this show is going to be so hot - we’re making history and memories simultaneously. 

Morena Leraba has emerged as the flagbearer of a remodelled Lesotho sound through a brace of collaborations, live performances and singles over the last 6 years. Retaining deeply-sunk roots in Lesotho, Leraba’s live show is an amalgamation of electronic and folk elements unlike anything you’ve heard.

Afronaut exude a rough-and-ready art-punk aesthetic and energy as part of the SoPunk movement, and have steadily been making a name for themselves since the release of their debut EP “Africans From Outta Space” (2020).

These two acts together on one stage makes so much sense, but you’ll have to experience it in person to find out why.
