BOOK LAUNCH: TEACHING IN AND BEYOND PANDEMIC TIMES
Here for the first time is an account of the inner lives of teachers during, and immediately after the pandemic lockdown.
Teaching in and beyond pandemic times
This is a book about the inner lives of teachers as they lived through and taught in the pandemic, and the lessons from this experience for the future of education in South Africa. The book has a narrow audience (teachers), middle range audience (parents, school governors, department officials) and a broader audience (the reading public) given that education affects all sectors of society. The book is written in an accessible style with teachers writing their stories in the first person. The framing of the book in an early chapter gives a sense of purpose and place for the book; the concluding chapter looks to the future and asks how we can prepare for teaching and learning after the pandemic? Most of these are stories of hope, resilience, and enormous courage in the face of a deadly virus. Your faith in teachers and teaching will be restored after reading this book.
