Sit the Folk Down and The Shabeen are collaborating to bring you an album launch like no otherTHE SHABEEN is a Folk Punk duo out of Cape Town South Africa. Having gigged extensively across South Africa for the past 3 years they deliver a tight, captivating set that blends sincere, melodic sing-a-long folk with the raw energy and DIY ethos of punk rock. Drawing influences from artists such as Frank Turner, Erik Peterson and Against Me!, the band never ceases to get a crowd to throw their fists in the air and sing along to their anthemic tunes which have been described as honest and raw and easy to relate to.
The band is made up of singer/songwriter Jon Shaban on guitar and vocals, Ryan McArthur on double bass and backing vocals. Each musician brings their own flare and flavour to the music, adding to the uniqueness of their fresh ‘’High Quality Folk Punk” sound.
The band spent most of 2015 writing, producing and recording their debut album, 'Folk is Dead'. They are now ready to release it!
On Saturday, the 27th February, The Shabeen will be joined by local band and long-time mates, The West Coast Wolves to throw a day time party to be remembered.

*Ticket will also include a boerewors roll for lunch, some pizza later and snacks throughout the day. You are welcome to bring whatever other food you want to as well.
NOTE: Please do not bring alcohol. There will be a super cheap cash bar (No card facilities unfortunately). There is also a swimming pool so bring your costumes. Kids welcome.
Parking is limited and we want this to be a jol so please car-pool or catch an uber. There will be security provided for the cars that are there.
