"Celebrating OUR Beautiful South African Jazz is my passion, it's education to myself, fellow South African musicians and to the young and coming musicians. It's spreading the word and continuing with the legacy of our music. Unsung Heroes project is that space and platform for me to do that, celebrate our legends in music (YOUNG AND OLD) and sing their songs." - Sandile Gontsana


 Graduated at UCT College of Music (SACM) in 2010, Post Grad. Diploma in Music (Jazz Singing). While studying Sandile was part of the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band in 2010 (conductor Prof. Mike Campbell) and 2011 (conductor McCoy Mrubata). He moved to Johannesburg in 2012 where he toured with Sibongile Khumalo on her Reflect. Celebrate. Live: University Tour and worked with various musicians in South Africa (Banda Banda, Swazi Dlamini, Tshepo Mngoma, Siyanqoba Mthethwa, Sibongile Mngoma etc.). Featured on McCoy Mrubata's Brasskap Sessions Vol. 2 album (SAMA Best Jazz Album 2015). Sandile got an opportunity to travel and be part of Disney's The Lion King Musical in Australia (Antelope Tour) in 2013 till February 2016. While travelling he visited South Africa frequnetly and did a couple of concerts in Cape Town (The CRYPT Jazz Restaurant) and Johannesburg (The Orbit Jazz Restaurant). Gontsana was given another opportuinty to work on Disney's The Lion King Musical, London's West End Production where's he currently based as a Singer in an ensemble (High Antelope) and Dialect Coach
