Dali Tembo is an Afrofuturist and Co-Founder of The Culture Foundry, a South African based consumer trends and insights agency. He is recognised as one of the leading strategists canvassing current and future trends affecting Africa's youth. Having completed his undergrad in Organisational Psychology, Business Management and Public Management, Dali went on to study a Post Grad Honours in Marketing and an MBA specialising in Emerging Markets from the University of Liverpool.
In his young career, Dali has delivered strategic guidance to numerous multi-national corporations across Africa, the UK, the US and MEA. He has also partnered with the UCT Institute of Strategic Marketing to deliver two of the largest research studies ever presented on Youth and High Income Earners in South Africa.
Dali also run his own Youth Trends Columns, contributes to leading magazines on emerging trends and has been a regular guest speaker at notable conferences and universities.
Dali’s chapter in The Future Starts Now is called The African Opportunity and looks at the approaching African demographic dividend as well as debunking many of the misconceptions the rest of the world has about Africa’s present and future.
Doug Vining is a business and technology futurist and partner at Futureworld. Doug is an experienced technology and strategy consultant, with a particular emphasis on leveraging internet technologies to grow customer and business networks. His abiding fascination with emerging technology of all types, from nanotech and biotech to 3D printing and clean energy, is only eclipsed by his firm conviction that communication technology is behind the explosive growth in knowledge on all fronts in recent decades.
With a rich career history from advertising to corporate consulting, including several spells as an entrepreneur and working for major technology companies like IBM, Doug has seen many innovations come and go. He believes that innovation should have real commercial applications, and that many of the world’s problems can be solved with technology.
Doug’s chapter in The Future Starts Now focuses on Flying into the Future and looks at the future of aerial transportation (or lack thereof).
Craig Wing is a futurist, imagineer, entrepreneur and speaker. He has worked with clients in 45 countries and delivered in excess of 500 keynotes on the future (of pretty much everything).
Craig holds dual Master’s degrees in Engineering (Electrical and Usability, University of Witwatersrand) and Business (MBA, Babson College) and is currently completing a PhD in Futures Thinking (University of Johannesburg). His research focuses on helping leaders seize the unknown and create the future(s) they want.
Unlike other experts who are “talk and little action”, Craig is well known for acting on what he talks about. He has converted his car to electric, filed two patents, worked at both Google and Google X, and rejected an opportunity to lead one of Richard Branson’s companies to create a global platform for tomorrow’s leaders in favour of pursuing his own entrepreneurial endeavours.
Craig’s chapter in The Future Starts Now is titled Homo Augeretis and explores the implications of genetic engineering for social stability and individual identity.
