ABOUT CHRIS CAMERON-DOW

Chris is a pianist and musical director from Cape Town, South Africa. Since he started piano lessons at the age of 7, Chris has developed a love of music and enjoys performing both solo and in collaboration with other musicians, actors and singers.

Chris is currently studying with award-winning concert pianist Megan-Geoffrey Prins, having been inspired by his 2018 performance in Cape Town of Rachmaninov's 3rd piano concerto. Chris previously studied with Angela Pinder and completed his ABRSM Grade 8 in 2002.

Although classically trained, Chris has expanded into musical theatre in recent years, featuring as musical director and pianist for the Something Else! productions Sky Lights (2018) and Let’s Do It (2019), and Playbill Productions'Lovely to Look at in 2019. Previously, Chris performed in musicals at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and Alexander Bar in Cape Town.

Classical music, and the Romantic period in particular, remains the core of Chris's love of music. While playing the music is satisfying in itself, performing offers Chris the opportunity to share the music he loves with other people, which makes it a doubly special experience.

On weeknights, Chris can often be found entertaining diners in Cape Town hotels.
