ABOUT

Monthly concerts at Christ Church Constantia, Cape Town resume with an ensemble of thirteen musicians on Sunday 11th April at 3pm. The Cape Town Philharmonic Wind Ensemble conducted by Faan Malan will perform Mozart's spectacular "Gran Partita" - otherwise known as the "Serenade for Thirteen Winds". Also on the programme is Gary Carpenter's "Pantomime."

Tickets for online viewing of the concert (unlimited) and attendance at Christ Church for eighty patrons are available. Covid protocols need to be observed.

Although details of the day were never recorded, it is widely thought that Mozart composed the Serenade for his own wedding to Constanze Weber. The symphonic design of the work, the attention to detail that he lavished upon it, together with the time period in which it was written suggest that he wrote it with the event in mind.
