Rematch Sport • Vibe Energy Water MD20 Boxing Bout

Sat Apr 3, 17:55 - Fri Apr 9, 23:00

Event is online

With heaps of support and donations pouring in for Mirwaan Davids, the head coach at St. Georges RFC has been expressing his gratitude towards the entire Strand as well as broader Helderberg community. Davids has been diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure. He has been receiving treatment and dialysis for the past few months.

On the 3rd of April 2021, two club rugby stalwarts will be stepping into a boxing ring for the first time to help raise funds for Davids' treatment. Taariq van Der Ross, 42, and Manwill Williams, 42, will be battling it out, this time in a boxing ring for what is known as a white collar boxing match. The bout will be four rounds of two minutes per round with a 60 second break in between each round. This main event will be preceded by four fights and will be done with the support and partnership of CEY Crossfit in Gants Centre, Somerset West and The Daisy Jones venue in Stellenbosch.

The entire event will be live-streamed for your viewing pleasure so get your tickets online now to show your support.

Live stream tickets are R150 (Early Bird R120 until 15 March at noon)

There is also an extra donation option available when purchasing your tickets online at Quicket.

"Our friend Mirwaan Davids needs our help and we needed to think of an event that would create excitement and hype, raise enough funds and involve other local entertainers all under one roof," said van Der Ross. Williams added: "Mirwaan is an iconic person in the Helderberg Community, not only is he one of my best friends, but I see him as a mentor and coach that has helped me in my latter rugby career."

The pre-matches will be streamed from 18:00 and then the main fight will be streamed live at 19:30.

You can tune in anytime via the link on your ticket. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and food and drinks ready for this white collar boxing extravaganza.

Ps. If you can't watch the event on the 3rd of April the stream will be available to view online until 9 April at 10pm.
