Join us for our FREE live interactive cook-along event featuring Chef Jay Mac! You’ll learn how to cook easy, delicious and nourishing plant-based dishes that your whole family will love (even the meat-lovers). About Chef Jay Mac:


Jason McNamara is a local vegan advocate and chef who founded The Kind Kitchen. Jay gained his skills in vegan culinary arts at The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas. To accommodate the growing demand for his vegan food, Jay crowd-funded his first café and deli in mid-2018.




Menu for the day:


Starter meal: Fish strips with dill tarte


  • 1x Pack Fry's Fish style fillets
  • ½ cup Bwell Gourmet vegan mayo
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 20g dill, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste



Main meal: Cheesy Beef style Empanadas


  • 1x Pack Frys Pea Protein Mince
  • 1x 400g puff pastry, kept in fridge overnight to thaw
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. dry oregano
  • 1 tsp. cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • 1x 200g vegan cheddar cheese, grated
  • Olive oil, for brushing 
  • Freshly chopped coriander, for garnish
  • Serve with a seasonal side salad and extra dill tartare


Equipment needed: A baking tray with baking paper and a pastry brush

Please ensure you have all the ingredients prepared, diced, etc before the session starts.
