ABOUT

ASHRAE South African Chapter will host a Lecture on HVAC system design this century using power grid tariffs and current proven technology

A basic introduction to electricity tariff structures, exploring the purpose of time of use pricing and demand charges, followed by the application of thermal batteries (thermal storage) and enthalpy wheels to reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs.

These principles are then applied practically in the design of an ocean cruise terminal.

Christopher Charles Elston  (Chris Elston)

Chris Elston,  Pr Tech. (Eng ), is an ASHRAE Life Member and a Fellow of SAIRAC where he was a founder member of that association in KZN. He is a past president of SARACCA .

He has been working in the industry for 59 years rising from a junior design engineer to the head of engineering in then the largest air-conditioning contractor in the country .
