Draft Cybercrimes Bill Discussion

Fri Nov 13, 10:00 - Fri Nov 13, 11:00

Bandwidth Barn Campus

ABOUT

Come and hear leading technology lawyer Brendan Hughes lead a discussion on the draft Cybercrimes Bill and have your say.It is estimated that mobile broadband will reach 70% of the world’s population by 2017 and that the number of networked devices is estimated to outnumber people by 6 to 1.

When you do the maths it’s hard not to understand that electronic evidence linked with internet protocol activity will become the number one crime busting tool for law enforcement agencies everywhere.

The law needs to play constant catch up with technology and the criminal mind and the new Cybercrimes Bill is supposed to do that.

But are we headed in the right direction?

Will the new Bill provide us with the security we want, or will it turn us all into suspected criminals like Edward Snowden fears?

Collated comments will be shipped off to the head of the committee drafting the Bill.  We have his email and we know who he is, so if you want your voice to be counted, come to this free CiTi community event.
