ABOUT

The CLDSA is excited to announce that we will be launching our first ever speaker series titled "Cold Water Capers" to introduce a platform of compelling speakers on open water swimming topics. Initially the series will be on-line only. You will be able to enjoy our thought-provoking and inspirational speakers in the comfort and safety of your homes. By launching this series we hope to offer value to our members and connection for the open water swimming community.

Join us for the first session of “Cold Water Capers” brought to you by CLDSA as we discuss swimming anecdotes and more with Cape Town heart surgeon and Guinness World Record holder, Dr Otto Thaning. Anyone who has swum with Dr Otto Thaning knows what a strong and graceful stroke he has - like poetry in water. In his spare time, Otto has notched up an impressive open water resume including being the oldest solo English Channel swimmer at 73, his second Channel swim, as well as being the first person to swim across Lake Malawi, with conservation and swim legend Lewis Pugh, and numerous Robben Island crossings!
