ABOUT

We have had an incredible amount of correspondence from fans, requesting a re-run of this Conversation Series.

And so, due to the fact that we are in a level of isolation and distance, we have honoured your request.

Over 3 hours of music with selections from the Mandisi Dyantyis catalogue, songs from the streets, songs of freedom, songs of jubilation, hymns of praise and stories of hope and loss.

This is a once off special and something to get you through the Level 3 stage.

For R100 you can stream all 3 episodes as many times as you want for the 10 days between 7 and 17 January 2021.

Ep 1. Umzabalazo “Songs of Freedom”

In the honour of June 16th, Youth Day, Mandisi will discuss the part the youth played in the struggle and also pay homage to those who came before us. Songs Of Freedom, Songs Of Liberation and Songs Of Triumph will be performed in tribute to the who stood up against injustice and sacrificed themselves for the greater good.

These songs will be chosen from The Mandisi Dyantyis catalogue as well as other "Umzabalazo” songs

Ep 2. Ubuntu “I am because You are”

As Archbishop Desmond Tutu explained, “My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” He truly understands that the potential of human beings working collectively to achieve goals is infinitely greater than the potential of any individual. Mandisi and his full band perform songs inspired by the community and the households of his youth, and will be chosen from the Mandisi Dyantyis catalogue as well as other songs he grew up listening to on the streets of New Brighton

Ep 3.  Imvelaphi “Origin, Culture, Heritage"

Marcus Garvey says "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture, is like a tree without roots.

Getano Lui says "Maintaining ones culture, values and traditions, is beyond price”.

Maya Angelou says "The more you now about your history, the more liberated you are" and Mahatma Gandhi says "A nation's culture resides in the hearts and the soul of its people."

Powered by the heart beat and the roots of African music, Mandisi and his full band will perform songs inspired by the traditional stories that shape our being, with a personal homage to the giants, whose shoulders we stand on.

These songs will be chosen from the Mandisi Dyantyis catalogue as well as from other story-tellers who have come before.
