SANNIE FOX

Sannie Fox, songwriter, singer and guitarist has released music with blues-rock 3-piece- machineri and also released X 2 solo albums (both SAMA nominated) entitled Serpente Masjien and My Soul Got Stranger.

The South African Fox with fado roots crosses genres of desert blues, soul and psychedelic rock in her song writing and music.

Machineri’s self-titled album was created with art-work by iconic Storm Thorgerson (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd) and features the songs “Big Bad Machine” & “The Searchers”.

Together with Mississippi-style subject matter & ‘impeccable riffage’, Fox continues the genre-meshing solo-journey releasing retro and soul-tinged Serpente Masjien & My Soul Got Stranger featuring the songs ‘Freedom’, ‘Criminal for your Love’ & ‘Sorrow’.

Fox who was nominated for a UK AIM Award in the category of best live act in 2020 is currently based in London and working on her next release

‘…Be sure to let your ears witness the mythically marvellous blues riffs and stirring vocals that fill her songs to the brim with soul…If you dig 70’s rock or powerful, soulful voices, then this is the rock goddess for you…’

-       Sferikul

‘Sannie Fox can be described as “belting out the blues like she was born in a Louisiana swamp.”’ – The New Age

‘...each track stands out with singular purpose like the gadgets on a Swiss Army knife...’

Texx and the City (on Serpente Masjien)

‘My Soul Got Stranger continues the electrifying journey through desert blues, soul and psychedelic rock that has seen Fox become one of the most important South African artists of the past decade.’

- Diane Coetzer’

‘The sparse, hypnotic nature of the genre is found in the rhythms and echoes of so much music I love, namely- South African and Malian music. When you hear the voracious voice of Zulu singer Busi Mhlongo or the magical, repetitive riffs of Madala Kunene, you can hear the blues.’
