High Impact Public Speaking : Conquer your fear of public speaking

Thu Feb 4, 17:30 - Tue Feb 9, 20:30

Event is online

ABOUT

Glossophobia or speech anxiety is the fear of public speaking. The word glossophobia derives from the Greek glossa, meaning tongue, and phobos, fear or dread.

“According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two! Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than delivering the eulogy.” – Jerry Seinfeld

Communicating your ideas clearly and presenting them openly in a public forum is an essential component of success.

Being a good public speaker can help you advance your career, grow your business, and form strong relationships. To be successful in most things in life requires us at some stage to stand in front of an audience and speak. Whether it is to sell something, have a successful interview, or demonstrate your skill in your work, it all depends on one thing; your ability to speak.

Sometimes the only thing that stands between you and your amazing presentation is fear.

You aren't alone in this fear, sometimes even famous accomplished people feel the same:

“I was dreading winning. I didn’t even prepare an acceptance speech. I was worried that I would slip up or do something horrible. I was shaking in my seat, putting on a posed smile. Inside I was petrified.” – Leonardo DiCaprio (at the 1998 Academy Awards)
