The Speaker is Mr Francois Retief.

Francois Retief, the founder of Sow & Reap Consulting has extensive experience in the green building industry. A Mechanical Engineer by training, Francois specialises in building performance analyses and sustainability strategies. He is passionate about collaborative working to find pragmatic sustainability solutions in the built environment.

Prior to founding Sow & Reap in 2014, Francois spent 4 years at the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA), managing the development of a number of Green Building Rating Tools including the Green Star - Existing Building Performance tool. During his time at the GBCSA, Francois also played a key role in overseeing and moderating the first 50 Green Star projects in South Africa. This experience gives him a deep understanding of the Green Star SA rating tools and their documentation and assessment requirements. He continues to serve as faculty and assessor for the Green Building Council.

In addition to his role at Sow & Reap, Francois also serves as the sustainability chair for the ASHRAE South Africa chapter.
