We will be joined by some of our amazing Ocean View ladies who will share stories and Dr Hassina Kajee the physician running the programme.
Join us and the amazing chef Jocelyn for an incredible four course Banting banquet (All food served will definitely be Banting & LCHF compliant).
Dr Westman is out from the US in October - join him and Prof Noakes at our last public talk this year for a chance to meet them both and hear their stories about our Fat Future. All proceeds for this event will go to towards the Lavender Hill Community Banting Programme that we are commencing on the 1st November. All proceeds will go to The Noakes Foundation's Community Education Programme that is funding Real Eating interventions into communities across South Africa and changing the way the nation eats and lives for the better!
About the key speakers at this event:
Professor Tim Noakes
Prof Noakes was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1949. As a youngster, he had a keen interest in sport and attended Diocesan College in Cape Town. Following this, he studied at the University of Cape Town (UCT)
and obtained an MBChB degree in 1974, an MD in 1981 and a DSc (Med) in Exercise Science in 2002.
In the early 90s, Noakes teamed up with Morné du Plessis to drive the founding of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA).
Prof Noakes has published more than 750 scientific books and articles. He has been cited more than 16 000 times in scientific literature, has an H-index of 71 and is rated an A1 scientist by the National Research Foundation of South Africa.
Dr. Eric Westman
Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Health System and Director of the Duke Lifestyle Medical Clinic has combined clinical research and clinical care to deliver lifestyle treatments for
obesity, diabetes and other related conditions such as Tobacco Dependence. He is currently the President of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and a Fellow of the Obesity Society and the Society of General Internal Medicine. Graduating from Stanford University (A.B.), University of Wisconsin (M.D.), University of Kentucky, and Duke University (M.H.S.), is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, and has a Master’s Degree in clinical research, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications under his belt.
